Public Policy

Science, Public Policy and Governance for Sustainable Development

Many of the Foundation’s activities follow a three-step process: we learn, we tell, we encourage. It’s an oversimplification but a useful one to understand the intention that underpins what we do and how we do it, as well as the way different projects are prioritized. Sharing our information is one of our more public activities.

The process of educating, in whatever the medium chosen, is visible. It’s also the easiest to explain. The Foundation has published several pieces of literature meant to meet the requirements of different groups. Some technical reports are best suited to the needs of professionals already engaged in environmental or developmental work.

Some information is provided to the general public in an easy-to-read style. Since 2005, we’ve been working alongside examination boards, the Ministry of Education and schools to produce learning materials for secondary school students. Documentary-style productions based on both local and international research have also helped to increase and diversify what we have on offer to various audiences.

Working with our institutional and individual partners, we’ve been able to host or facilitate workshops, seminars and conferences that seek new ways to bring together the different components that make for a comprehensive and effective approach to education and public awareness. We continue to try to identify what knowledge is most relevant to whom and how we can participate in delivering it.
