Farmers’ Workshop – IDB MAPS

The Foundation, together with partners NAMDEVCO, IICA, CARIRI and the Chemistry, Food and Drug Division of the Ministry of Health, hosted a training workshop on the responsible use of agricultural chemicals, for farmers interested in participating in the MAPS project, on May 29th, 2019. The one (1) day training focused on topics pertinent to project including:

  • Selection of chemicals and storage
  • Record keeping
  • Pesticide disposal
  • Pesticide use and application
  • calibration

Among the presenters and facilitators were Mr. Hasmath Ali, Registrar Pesticides, Ministry of Health; Fareed Rahaman, Agronomist; Gopaul Ramoutar, CARIRI; and Dr. Lisa Harrynanan, Food Safety Specialist, IICA.

This training was a pre-requisite for farmers who are joining the IDB-funded MAPS project, being implemented by The Cropper Foundation.
