Arts for Development

The freedom to express one’s self through the Arts is one of the most fundamental affective domains of sustainable development. The Caribbean Region is one of the global hotspots for culture and the arts, and these movements have often been used as vehicles for progress, discontent and sometimes revolution. The utilization of the Arts to stimulate development is often overlooked but it is vital if we truly want to promote sustainability.

Programme Logic

Creative, artistic and cultural expressions are integrated into national efforts at promoting economic, social and environmental sustainability.
  1. Enhanced ability of decision makers to support and recognise the importance of the Arts to education and behaviour change towards sustainability;
  2. Enhanced use of the Arts by development agencies and organisations to communicate and educate on sustainability efforts;
  3. Increased use of the Arts by citizens to better represent their views and participate in decision making and the democratic process at the community and national levels.
