WATA, WELFARE, AND WORRIES - Fiction

CHRISTINA KATRINA SMITH is a journalist, fiction writer and filmmaker. It was only within her third decade of life that she jumped into fiction writing as she recognized that her words were useful for more than just news and was first published in an anthology of Caribbean writers in 2021. Smith was shortlisted in 2023 for the BCLF Elizabeth Nunez Award for Writers in the Caribbean prize. Her film projects explored issues of social, economic and reparatory justice in the region. She views her work (screen, prose and journalism) as an act of “writing” the wrongs that are present in Caribbean societies.
