Elechi Todd is an artist from Trinidad and Tobago whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, photography, and video. Guided by instinct and anchored in material exploration, his work reflects on the layered realities of Caribbean life. Through recurring motifsāfigures entangled with fences, surfaces obscured with glitterāhe evokes the regionās tensions between freedom and constraint, beauty and violence. Drawing from the visual languages of Carnival, Trinibad Dancehall, and the Caribbean landscape, Todd constructs images that resist stereotype and invite deeper engagement. He has participated in residencies at The Fountainhead (2019) and the Leipzig International Artist Residency (2024), and presented his first solo exhibition, Who is āWeā?, in 2022.
